Decanter rates the novelty of Nivarius Lia Reserva 2017 and awards it 94 points

"Something new to try at home". The prestigious specialised magazine Decanter has taken notice of Bodegas Palacios de Finca's brave bet with the Nivarius Lía Reserva 2017. The praiseworthy assessment of this wine culminates with a score of 94 points out of 100 from this internationally renowned prescriptor.

In its review, Decanter states that "this is an ambitious wine, but also exemplary".

"A highly original and exciting blend of Viura, Garnacha Blanca and Maturana". This exemplarity comes from the selection of goblet-trained Viura vineyards on the Moncalvillo slopes and the Rioja Sonsierra (60%). Garnacha Blanca from Clavijo (20%) and white Maturana from our Finca Las Arcas in Nalda (20%).

He describes the wine as "extremely dry and precise expression, very clean, full-bodied and long". The soils in which the vines grow are mainly sandy-ferrous on the southern slopes of the Ebro Valley, in the Moncalvillo and Clavijo areas. On the northern slopes, they are generally deep soils with a sandy component and colluvial rocks on the surface, with a layer of clay from a depth of 3 metres. And it is precisely this configuration of soils that provides the precise and clean structure praised in the review.

Palacios Vinos de Finca begins the elaboration of this wine with a harvest process with optimal aromatic ripeness. Light pressing without destemming, in the absence of oxygen. After 14 months of static ageing on the lees, the wine is bottled for a second fermentation in the bottle.
