Land of great richness and authenticity
22 February 2023Conservation and sustainability, fundamental pillars for Palacios Vinos de Finca
24 April 2023We take stock of the wineries’ presence at Prowein, the most important trade fair for the wine and spirits sector.
Palacios Vinos de Finca has been present, with its own stand, at ProWein, the most important trade fair for the wine and spirits sector. The biggest event for viticulture professionals, to detect new trends, strengthen alliances and reinforce their brand.
Bodegas Trus, Bodegas Nivarius and Bodegas Proelio, with our entire range of wines, travelled to Düsseldorf. It is, without a doubt, the best place to present our wines and have meetings with some of our importers. It is also a good opportunity to be with them, since due to distance we can only have face-to-face meetings once a year.
Borja Larroca, Export Manager of Palacios Vinos de Finca, was one of the visible faces at the stand. For three days, high-level meetings were held. “It’s a fair that we always prepare very well”, Larroca acknowledges. It is not in vain that we are talking about the most important wine fair and the quality of the exhibitors and visitors is always very high.
As every year, and this year was no exception, ProWein lived up to the expectations. From 19 to 21 March, more than 60 countries were represented by more than 6,000 exhibitors in 13 halls. At the end of the fair, a balance has been drawn up. A total of 49,000 trade visitors from 141 countries attended this 28th edition – the first without restrictions due to the pandemic – 11,000 more than the previous event. It is worth remembering that the ProWein fair began in 1994 with 321 exhibitors from eight countries.
“Our wines are becoming more and more popular. Every year that goes by, our wines become more and more popular”, says Borja Larroca. The key? We have an incredible oenological team that knows how to demand the maximum from the vineyard and its fruit, so that our wines are already becoming a reference in the world. We offer consumers the most sincere interpretation of our terroirs; wines that transmit the places they come from, rather than producing commercial products.
Palacios Vinos de Finca is the materialisation of a philosophy: to place the territory at the centre of everything; as the basis of a winemaking project aimed at producing unique wines. The obsession for the territory both in the Rioja wineries (Nivarius and Proelio) and in the Ribera del Duero winery (Trus). And in all of them we practice sustainable viticulture. In our estates we work in a logical, rather than ecological way. We focus on very cool areas, at altitude. Concerned as we are about climate change, we look for that freshness in a natural way in the grapes, obtaining the drinkability that characterises our wines.
Opening up new markets
A characteristic that the visitors of ProWein have found and emphasised. A fair that has allowed us to make very interesting contacts. “We have some things open to start with in Brazil, Peru, Uruguay, Germany, the United Kingdom, Korea…”, acknowledges Larroca.
Despite the fact that ProWein coincided with a bus and train strike, which paralysed traffic in Düsseldorf and nearby towns for two of the three days of the fair and reduced attendance, our assessment could not be more positive. “This fair is very mature, with many years of experience”, insists Borja Larroca, who would not change anything about this event.
So next year, Palacios Vinos de Finca will travel again to Germany to be present at the 29th edition, which will be held from the 10th to the 12th of March.
